SFB Workshop

SFB 386

Workshop on Model Choice and Validation

Munich, October 6-8, 2005

organized by:

Sonderforschungsbereich 386
"Statistical Analysis of Discrete Structures"

||| Aims and Scope:

Modern computational mathematical and modelling techniques have greatly facilitated the development of complex statistical models for dealing with challenging applications in biology, medicine, finance, economics and social science. As a consequence, validation and choice of models have become more important than ever, and many approaches have been proposed over the years by statisticians, econometricians, biostatisticians and computer scientists.

This workshop aims at bringing together theoretical and applied research, advances in exploratory and inferential tools, new concepts and empirical experience, and Bayesian and frequentist approaches to deal with this key issue.
