Bayesian Varying-Coefficient Models

by Clemens Biller

Introduction

BVCM is a software tool for Bayesian Varying-Coefficient Models, i.e. a Bayesian approach for the varying-coefficient model (VCM) of Hastie and Tibshirani (1993). The software fitting the BVCM is implemented in C++ under Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0 and uses Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods. Additional software for presenting the results of the MCMC algorithm is implemented both in C++ and in S-Plus (under Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0). A brief overview of the definition of the BVCM and the used MCMC methods is given in the manual in section 2. The implemented software tools are described in section 3, while section 4 shows some examples for the application of the software.
